Kota Kinabalu is the capital of Malaysia’s Sabah state in the northern part of the island of Borneo. Often referred to as KK, it’s a coastal city partly surrounded by rainforest. It's known for its bustling markets, modern boardwalk, beaches and waterfront Kota Kinabalu City Mosque. It is also a gateway to Kinabalu National Park, the home of 4,095m-high Mount Kinabalu

Kota Kinabalu (KK) won’t immediately overwhelm you with its beauty, but you’ll soon notice its friendly locals, breathtaking fiery sunsets, blossoming arts and music scene, and rich culinary spectrum spanning Malay to Japanese, Western to Cantonese, street food to high end.

Uber Spreads Its Wings To Kota Kinabalu

Uber's made its way to the East Malaysian state of Sabah and is now operating in Kota Kinabalu. Of course with each new launch, Uber will run promos and its promo includes both a two week referral value increase and sweepstakes.

From 10 May onwards, Uber users will get RM20 for referrals that will offer both the code user and the code sharer free RM20 rides. For each referral code share, you will also get the chance to win an all-expense trip to KK courtesy of the Le Meridien hotel.

Basically the more you share your code, the more chances you get to win yourself a trip to KK from 10 to 19 May. Winners will receive an email by 25 May and will include not just a three day, two night hotel stay but airfare and Uber credit to get you around Kota Kinabalu.

Uber's basically had to work hard to keep competitive with Grab, that has also been busy with its own promos. Just another reason to start getting your friends to try ridesharing.
