Sabah Targets 2.2 Million Tourist Arrivals This Year

With the introduction of its new tourism tagline, "Feel Sabah, North Borneo", the Sabah government hopes to attract 2.2 million domestic and foreign visitors this year. Minister for Tourism, Culture, and the Environment Datuk Christina Liew has stated that the government of Sabah plans to deploy e-hailing vehicles in an effort to reach this goal.

"We just opened the border and aim to accommodate at least 2.2 million people at first, but of course the more the merrier. It's estimated that 4.25 million people entered Sabah before the border was closed due to the epidemic "The new slogan for Sabah Tourism was introduced at the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agencies (Matta) show", she informed reporters.

She also paid a visit to the Sabah pavilion and waved off ten of the hundred e-hailing vehicles covered in "Feel Sabah, North Borneo" stickers that will spend the next three months cruising the streets of the Klang Valley as part of a promotional campaign. Liew explained that the "Feel Sabah, North Borneo" slogan was created to honour the past of the Malaysian state of Sabah, formerly known as North Borneo.

Through experiencing North Borneo's natural beauty and learning about Sabah's rich past, our company is helping to preserve both. It worries me that many people in today's youth may not know about Sabah's rich history and cultureDatuk Christina Liew

As a result, in addition to taking in Sabah's stunning scenery, friendly locals, rich cultural history, and famous fauna, visitors also get to peruse priceless relics from the North Borneo era. "It also highlights our status as a Malaysian state in the northern section of Borneo Island," she continued.
